Finding it hard to trust & overthinking things

I was with my ex partner for nearly 4 years, he cheated on me and I took him back, then ended it as I couldn’t cope with it. I’ve been with my new boyfriend for a year and a half now. I cannot seem to shake this overthinking off and anxiety feeling in my stomach. That has stemmed from my previous relationship. I can’t seem to be able to trust or I don’t want to let myself trust anyone again and afraid of being going hurt. I keep telling myself to trust him until there’s a reason not to trust him, I feel like I constantly go on and on about how insecure I am and that I’m worried he’s going to cheat or lie about things to me. I’m always making up things in my head overthinking, he will probably do this or he’s thinking of doing that. It’s really getting me down and just don’t know how to stop the over thinking.

@powerfulWalker8356 I totally get how that could make it difficult to trust someone you are in a relationship with. Trust can take time to build up for sure. Have you been able to talk to him about the feelings you have been having?

That sounds very stressful! I am sorry you are experiencing these feelings of instability. I think that GingerMarie is on the right track with wondering if you have had a chance to talk to him about these concerns? It may help you and him if he knows what is going on in your mind. It may also be worth checking out our Anxiety Guide or Relationship Support community to find others dealing with similar situations:

I understand you totally, as my ex also cheated on me it's hard to trust someone after such experience.
but we all know everyone isn't same.
you can try to put some trust on him

I'm not saying you to trust him blindly but
it's ohkay to put your guards down.
Things will take time but everything will be bettbe.
