My boyfriend of 5 years walked out on me after a huge row, things hadnt been going smooth for a while. This was 4 months ago. He is still paying rent on our house as he is tied to the contract. I've tried to contact him to see if he will come back, he said he would at first but so far he hasnt. My calls and text get ignored a lot of the time and i found out recently he is dating someone else.

The last time we spoke was a couole weeks ago and he said he would "think about it".

i'm utterly lost and confused. I want to work things out so badly.

@Caz87 Hi there! Thank you for reaching out to us here! You must be very confused and saddened by your situation right now, and I can only imagine how hard it is. But from my experiences, I'd like to ask you if you have considered leaving it be for a while? I am sorry to hear that he is now dating someone else while you are still stuck and confused about what you two were and what happened.

There are many ways to approach this situation, but if he is already with someone else, please don't destroy that relationship. Care for yourself. Your relationship wiith yourself is much much more important and perhaps you could become stronger than ever! Consider showing the person he is missing out on? How? By growing without him.

You may want to work things out, and that is fine. How about take a step back and think about what you want to do right now? I hope you can give me a reply soon! I'm rooting for you! :D

@Caz87

Hi there, I can really hear the pain you are going through; anyone in your position would feel this way. 5 years with someone is not a short amount of time and having to hear through someone else that he has "moved on", without considering to inform you about these new developments, must have been extremely upsetting...especially when you have been trying to contact him to talk things out.

So this leads me to the question on how you would feel if you tried moving on too? Nobody deserves to be treated this way, and I'm guessing that waiting around for his return will bring you more suffering. Perhaps what would help right now is to go out, meet new people, try new things, travel etc. Even if it's not showing him what he is missing out on, do this for yourself. You deserve it. Of course, this is your life and you know what is best for you :) I know it's so easy to say these things when we are not in your position, but we care for you and can really understand where you're coming from. Even if it's taking it easy, and just re-evaluating on what you want out of the relationship and for yourself, that might help in making things clearer for you. :)
