Hot and cold????

Me and my partner (ex) broke up around 11 weeks ago now. We have been together for 4 years. Before the break up, things were going really well but he said he had to sort things out in his head as he wasnt happy with life in general. He said he wanted to do it alone and that this was just for now as he needed space but we could work it out. We spoke a couple days after this and he said he just wanted to be left alone. I had asked 3 times if I could come and pick up my things from his house and he always made excuses as to why I couldnt (he was working, he wasnt home, etc) he said not to worry my things are safe and hed message me when he was off work and I could go round to get them. I didnt message him after this and we had no contact for a while until he sent me a message 4 weeks ago by accident and then another one about money.. we have spoke 3 times since last week and they have been good, positive conversations. He has made conversation within them. He is still a little hot and cold as some messages he doesnt reply to however we havent really spoke much since we broke up so Im thinking this is down to him needing time to open up again? On Saturday he told me he was redecorating his room and sent me some pics of this after. Wouldnt this remind him about my things still being there if he was moving things around and decorating? Yet he still hasnt mentioned them? And Im not talking about a couple of things. I have almost half of my clothes there amongst other things.. just need some advice on this and how to take the situation.
