How do you get over someone
I was with my last partner for 6.5 years, 2 of which we spent living together. I put everything into our relationship and loved them so much, but they broke it off last year and I never got a proper response. I know sometimes people just fall out of live and feelings fade; and I can respect that. But I really thought I'd be over it by now. I still talk to them and we are on good terms but my heart still hurts know that what we had is over and part of me wants so desperately to rekindle what was lost, but I know they don't feel the same way. So how do I move on? I tried moving away and focusing on myself, and I am much more happy with who I am now, but I still miss them.
My last relationship ended over 3 years ago and I'm still not entirely over it. The past few months, I've been dating someone new and even so, I still struggle with what happened. Granted, it was a more toxic relationship than what you've described, but yeah... it takes time. Wish i could tell you how long, but it just takes as long as it takes.
I think it's important to just let yourself feel what you feel, but don't let it stop you from doing the things that you want to do.
You miss them and want the relationship because they broke up with you. It was not a mutual decision. Not having closure makes it harder too. The great news is you are much happier with who you are now, without them, so that’s saying a lot. 6.5 years is a long time to spend with someone. Still missing them is normal. There is no right or wrong timeline. I do think you could benefit from no contact with them until you get over them. My last break up was hard. I had to quit my job, moved to another city and blocked him from all communications.
