Introversion, not Social Anxiety
Im 17, and my life has been very lonely. I have good friends in my life, but not close friends. There's nobody in my life who understands me, or loves me for who I am. My parents don't give a damn about me. They just gave birth to me, and just made sure I was alive. They never cared about my emotional needs and their love was highly conditional. I've always been the odd one out, no matter where I went. I cannot blend in. I thought it was because I had social anxiety. I realised only yesterday that it was my introverted nature that never let me blend in. Over the years, I've been called boring, weird, too talkative and what not. My own parents have pointed out a dozen flaws in me. I've been through several depression, and I've been through suicidal tendencies 2 times by now. I'm out of that phase thankfully, but life still feels pointless to me. I don't know what I'm living for. I don't even know why I'm alive today. There's still hope inside me and that's what keeps me alive or stops me from taking that step. But even that hope is fading away slowly. I just want to be accepted somewhere. I don't want to feel like the black sheep. I just want to be loved and feel valued by somebody. That's all I've asked for in my life. And my introverted nature has made it extremely tough for me to get that, atleast that's what I feel. I don't know why I'm like this.
Hey! I am really sorry to hear about all of this. I am in a similar boat (not trying to invalidate your struggles.) I am so glad that you are alive and so proud of you for keep fighting. Let me just tell you that being an introvert is not the problem. I haven't figured things out for myself either but that is what I can tell anyways. You are loved and valid. Please take care of yourself. Better days are ahead. I hope this passes soon for you.
Thank you, friend. You're right. Being an introvert is not the problem. I just had some stigma attached to being a introvert. I reflected on this issue, and now I feel good. Thanks for replying to my post. Your support encouraged me
I am glad you're feeling better :)
I know it can be tough right now, but maybe you just haven't met yet the tribe that is really meant for you. The kind of people whom you can form meaningful connections with so you would feel valued and loved and that your presence is acknowledged. And so that you would feel less lonely. I know it's not that easy to find "your people" or have solid friends. I myself am struggling to find where they could be but I am not losing hope. If you need to talk with someone, I am here. I am willing to listen just leaving me a message, you are not alone in this.
Thank you very much, buddy. It's definitely not easy to find your own tribe. But I've shared my issue with my friends on 7cups. Honestly, I love you guys. Your responses have made my day
Hello, Victor. First of all, a huge warm hug to you. I understand how difficult it might be for you. I'm an introvert as well. I spend most of time alone. What keeps me sane is spending time on what I love to do. Loving yourself, dreaming and working towards my goals is another thing which helps me. I'm sure that you're an amazing, sweet and kind soul. I can feel it just by reading your post. You just keep being yourself. Spread your warmth, give a smile and try to be vulnerable. Good things are in store for you, and I hope you'll find people who share the same vibe as you. All the best. Don't worry :)
Thanks buddy. Your response made me happy. I never expected to get such an amazing response from the community. Thank you😊
