I want to get our love back...

My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years and I haven't been happy for about 5 months. We finally had an "all cards on the table" type of talk. We talked about what our frustrations were. We are complete opposites. He's more social butterfly and I'm more introverted. Plus there were a few fights about I don't feel like a priority to him and he doesn't feel like anything is good enough for me...So many differences and eventually we straight up asked each other if we wanted to break up. Neither one of us want to break up and we want to get back to our head over heels type of love that we felt for so long. I just don't know where to start with him. Recently I've been going through some MAJOR depression with everything in life and my heart feels blocked up. I don't want to lose him, but I want to have happiness again. Open to any suggestion... I want our love back.

It is definitely frustrating when your wants and needs are not met. It is also frustrating to hear that you cannot meet your partner's wants and needs. Relationship is full of compromises. Both partners have to give and take. Create a list of things you're willing to do with him and things that you're not. Let him know what you're willing to compromise on. For exmaple, you can go to parties with him from time to time, and he can do something that you like to do, from time to time. If you can't make it, make up the loss by doing something else he likes and you're willing to do it. So long as the two of you can work out your differences and meet each other's needs, the relationship can work. It also sucks to be stuck in a rut of the relationship. Usually, it's a sign that both partners got too comfortable with each other. Spice things up. Do something new. Find a common adventure together. Heck, recreate the first date you two had. Remember the reasons why you two fell in love with each other. What quirks did you like about your boyfriend? What qualities do you admire in him? What did he do to make you fall in love with him? Vice versa. Both of you should show each other the best qualities of yourselves and why you both went into a long-term relationship. I hope it'll work out for you.

@KelsiO

P.S. In addition, let him know what you're going through. Take care of yourself first before anything else.
