Living With Anxiety & An Unsupportive Parent

All my life, I've been living with SEVERE anxiety issues, though I didn't have a name for what I've been feeling until recently.

Any change in routine, or wrong look from someone, instantly makes it hard for me to breathe. I can usually somewhat keep this in check (at least temporarily) with breathing exercises and mefitation, but the current global situation has made that near impossible, and has put my overall mental state in severe decline.

To top this all off, I am currently living with my parents. My Mom is the kindest person I know, and has tried her best to be supportive, but my Dad, whom I have never had the best relationship with in the first place due to his constant verbal abuse towards me my whole life, spares no instance to call me "crazy", or make fun of me for my fears. I try my best to explain my situation to him in hopes he'll understand, but he just continues his tirades against me, which just leads to me getting angry and snapping back

in return

The fighting between us has been awful lately, which only compounds my existing problems, and I just don't know how to even begin to return to any sort of normal living situation with him, or regain any sense of self-worth that he's taken away from me, without spending money that I simply do not have due to recently losing my job...

I'm so so sorry ranting, but just posting this has helped me a bit. Any advice or guidance that anyone may be able to offer would be DEEPLY appreciated, but even if not, thank you so much for just taking the time to read this. It really means a lot!

@andyetitis

Hi there. I also experienced anxiety before and very, very unsupportive and abusive parents when it comes to almost everything so you're not the only one.

In terms of advice, I can't really give one as even I am annoyed living under one roof with people that I have to anticipate when they will start with the abuse. But I'm thankful I still have a place to live and work considering the pandemic. I agree it's really not healthy to be living in a place where your mental health is constantly challenged.

So I just wanna say, I heard you and I hope you hang in there.

Dear son,

Dont get sad..you are strong for u have been managing your situation at home. I am sure that you are growing fast and will become a good citizen soon. Haven't you heared the quote by William Wordsworth "Child is the father of Man..". It applies in real life many times. Be like your mother be kind..

Be a good father to your children and above all a good human being..That is the sweetest revenge no..the sweetest thing u can do.

Always Smile..

Prayers and Wishes..
