Married and I made a mistake. Help.
Hey guys. I'm new here but I need help.
So I recently got really drunk and ended up making out with a friend. They were drunk as well. I immediately felt so guilty and even though I was so scared, I confessed to my husband and he forgave me. I am a religious person so I also asked God to forgive me. And i know confessing and being forgiven doesn't magically fix things but I feel just as guilty as I did after it happened. I feel severely sick, wracked with guilt and can't sleep or find any peace. Not sure what to do. The only person who won't forgive me is myself and it seems impossible. Any advice or help could really help because I can't wallow in this forever.
Hugs

Hello, so sorry that you are exeperiencing such guilt, and that it is causing such grief in your life. One thing I would like to say to you is that we all make mistakes in life. Some come with more severe consequences then others. As you stated We can be our own worst enemy. We tend to be able to foregive others and we can't let go and foregive our selves. I too am a religious person. But as we think about it "ALL OF US HAVE FALLEN SHORT in some way or another. One thing that may help is to allow the feeling to be there, accept that feeling and then just begin to explore by disecting that feeling as to why it is tormenting you. Once you are able to find the root of what your thoughts are on the guilt then you will beable to begin to process the feeling by telling that inter critic in your head that you are foregiven and you can no longer make me feel condemmed. Over and over. Write out your feelings on paper and once you write it all out , you might want to burn it and then begin to speak positive affirmations daily to your self.
You are forgiven. Don't allow your self or anyone make you feel you are not worthy of foregiveness.
I hope I am not out of line in saying this to you. I send Love and Light to you
It will get better
