Messy situation
So me and my girlfriend are taking a break at the moment. She got blackout drunk and did something stupid (it’s not verified she cheated, or did anything for that matter) but she ended up in a suspect situation. My emotions were a mixture of anger and sadness and she had a panic attack at the thought of losing me. The next day she said she needed some space from me as i have big effect on her emotions and clearly her mental well being. We haven’t talked in 5 days and she hasn’t seen any of my social media stories but she has posted her self and has hung out with friends (which i know is good for healing).
is it normal to have no contact with someone during “space” if it’s this severe? A apart of me feels like she’s waiting for my emotion to blow over before she reaches out. (We we’re friends for about a year prior to dating, if that means anything)
I think it’s okay to have distance. You don’t want anger to cause more things that you don’t actually mean to break up a relationship more.
(it is important to note that i have never been in a relationship) isn’t the entire point of “space” to cut out communication? to me, it seems you both need time to figure out who you are and what you want. i will also add that if you suspect her of being the slightest bit unfaithful in your relationship, that is very much bad. in almost all situations, once a cheater, always a cheater, so if she has already put herself in a situation that made you uncomfortable, you need to figure out of that behavior is something you are willing to tolerate in a relationship. i am sure this is a confusing and sad time for you, but it is better to face pain in the present than later in the future. i know this is very blunt, which is probably due to the fact that i have never been in love, but maybe my objectiveness will be helpful. best of luck.
