My Military Relationship
Hi, my name is AJ. I have a boyfriend in the military. We've been together for 3 1/2 years and he's been in the military for almost 2. I know a military relationship isn't easy for some and right now I am starting to struggle with mine. My boyfriend and I had a big fight in July of 2019 that has left a hard to fix dent between us. On top of that, he has been slipping into a depressed state and is losing interest in almost everything. If there is anyone out there with any words of wisdom, comfort, or support, I'd really appreciate feedback. Thank you.

I can understand how difficult a military relationship can be and the strain it can put on both partners. It can be hard to put a relationship first as well as a military career. Both require a lot of dedication and time. I commend you for reaching out for support on this.
When someone is going through depression, it can be hard for them to express how they are feeling and know how to help themselves. I have been through depression and it is difficult to work through. However, with support and the right people behind you, it can get better. It is great that you are still with him at the time of this post and have not Ivan up on the relationship. Being in the military and all the pressures that go along with it can bring about depressive feelings in people. They require the love and support of their family and friends as this is a unique experience.
Loosing interest in things can also be a side effect of depression. However, it is good that he has also not lost interest in the relationship. Some people find it difficult to be intimate but even little things to show that you care and love him can keep the door open for intimacy to happen.
