My girlfriend recently broke up with me
Me and my girlfriend broke up after 3 years
Me and my ex broke up at the start of January and it basically started by her telling me she doesn’t want to be with me anymore because there is no spark.
I moved back into my mums house for a bit and then moved back when she said she missed me, I stayed there for a few days and we ended up sleeping together twice and we fell right back into routine and then she switched again. She went right back to saying she doesn’t want to be with me and she doesn’t want our relationship rn. During this time she had mentioned that she was flirting with a friend but it wasn’t serious and then She mentioned that friend had sent her a nude and that she feels awkward because she doesn’t like this friend like that so I believed her
I moved back to my mums for a week and I saw her during the week, I went over to get some stuff and we hung out like normal and she broke down to me saying how I’m the only thing that makes sense and she sees a future with me and when I left we kissed. I then came back on the Friday and we spent the Friday night together lay in bed talking about things and I asked her to stay with me for the night and we slept next to each other and Saturday we were both working so we didn’t see each other and the Sunday we were having friends over.
I had work that morning so I walked into my flat and she was there with her sister and one of our friends. I sat down and it was so awkward and I saw that her and said friend were texting each other so I pulled her aside and said that it made uncomfortable so she apologised and assured me nothing was happening with this friend so we continued the night. I briefly spoke to the friend and asked if she likes her and she said no and denied anything going on later on I went for a breather and ended up crying, she came to check on me and basically told me we’re not getting back together and we’re done. After a while I came out and we all hung out on the sofa and when we all went to bed I went to get something from the room she’s staying in and she was in there with the friend and I left and came back and they moved away from each other quickly because they were hugging. She pulled me aside and she it was nothing and that they were both upset so I accepted it and went to bed.
In the morning I saw her in the kitchen and she apologised for the night before and I asked if we could talk later. Later on I went to bed but I came out to fetch something and I saw them hugging on the sofa. I pulled my ex into the room and spoke and she said she thinks she has feeling for the friend but she doesn’t know so I decided to pull them both for a chat and they said they both like each other a bit and I told my ex that I can’t stay in her life if she persues something with the friend and we need to cut all ties or she can not persue the friend and we can stay friends and stay civil. She had a while to think and she eventually chose to persue things with the friend because she said she might regret it if she didn’t at least try, I understand her decision and I have since packed all my things and I’m moving out. I’ve said that I can’t be friends with her if they’re together because it will hurt so much and she doesn’t seem to understand. I moved out with our kitten and while she was saying bye to him I came to get my other things and we hugged and I told her I want her to be happy and she said she wants me to be happy. She was crying and we both said we love each other and we kissed and I left. She’s said she’s going to let me know if she wants to continue with the friend at the end of the week and I’m trying so hard to not message her but I’ve messaged her once since leaving asking if anything happened between her and the friend while we were together and she said no. I just feel so lost without her and I don’t know how to move forward with life, I don’t think it’ll work out between them and I don’t know how to get her back. I think we’re going through a rough spot right now and I feel like she’s going to change her mind. What do I do now?i

I'm sorry to hear what you've gone through with this relationship. Unfortunately, that quest for the spark leads to people choosing new partners (even if they aren't in love with them), just to feel a spark again. Not everyone is ready to move into a more steady, stable relationship. It sounds like she was talking about your relationship not working out even before all this happened with the other girl. She made her choice.
The hard part is that you both love each other. You were right to respect her decision even though you know she may be making a mistake.
Are you able to take a bit of a break for some time to think and heal?
