Need Opinions/Advice
I will just get straight to the point. My husband calls our 6 year old daughter "poop stain" as a joke/nickname. He doesn't do it in a cruel or mean way. I have told him so many times that I don't think that is an appropriate nickname and he just doesn't get it. He thinks it is hilarious and keeps calling her that when he jokes around, which is a lot. She knows he is kidding and it only sometimes bothers her but I feel like it's a degrading nickname and he should choose something else to call her that is not quite as crude if he insists on joking around with her. Any opinions?

Oh man, that is not going to be funny if/when her friends overhear that! Maybe you can explain to him that you want her to feel strong, confident and independent and that his nickname can make her feel it is ok for people to call her names that just for fun but feel derogatory? Like, how would he feel if you called him that?!

Oh and one other thought that might make the transition to getting rid of the nickname a little more light-hearted...what if you implement a penalty (like $1 or something like that) every time he says it? And have a jar that is specifically meant for the penalty money that will go to your daughter eventually. Not sure it will help, but may be an incentive to stop.
