OCD, but feeling better already
Hello, I'm a 26yo guy, who went through some family abuse, anxiety, self destruction. I have never seen a psychologist (I whish I had !), but fortunately, wish some good self work and external support (my first gf) I went through most of it and built myself as a healthier, more balanced being. I broke up with her 3 years ago (we fought all the time and didn't want the same things anymore), got to know someone else I loved but felt uncomfortable with (I was certainly toxic on some aspects, but she ended up cheating on me, like she had done for her ex). This happened 1.5 years ago. I got really crushed by this 2nd breakup. I tried dating, but feel very uncomfortable when I'm not serious ( I want to find someone I'll spend my life with). Fee months ago, I met this girl which is great. We talked about our past, and I became so obsessed with it, and disgusted. In the same way I felt (ok, not as strong but still) when my ex cheated on me. When she told me she cheated before, and all those things I don't approve of. I may disapprove with my gf's past, that's not the question, but I should not be completely insane all of a sudden (I'm pretty rational and logical). I care about her. So I searched a lot about what I felt and I discovered I have something called retroactive jealousy OCD. Here I am now, taking all the steps I can, not to ruin my life by being irrational. If anyone want to provide me with tips / advices / feedback, I would be very grateful. Thanks :)
Hey buddy, it's never too late to see a psychologist and I'm very glad you worked on yourself, you should be proud! What you're going through is understandable and if you think your gf is the one, then open up to her and tell her how you feel about your past experience and what made you this way! At the same time, try to find something that calms you down and distracts you from thinking about the negative things! If you want to talk more. I'm here to listen :)
