Should I walk away?

I had a best friend of 10 years who always had feelings for me. But I kept a respectable distance throughout the friendship to avoid his girlfriends feeling insecure. 2 years ago, I realised I had feelings for him. But I was battling depression and anxiety. I was awful at coomunicating my feelings so i went through therapy. I wasn't ready.

Last year, he moved back home, we dated. He was extremely insecure. Went through my phone and when he couldn't find anything incriminating, accused me of deleting things. All this while, I never cheated or even spoke to another male. During then, he had made it clear that he wanted to marry one. Despite the insecurities, we were very much in love and commited. Once, he accidentally called me by an ex's name and lied to cover it up. Naturally, i was slightly sad. He got angry that i got sad so i tried to hug him to placate. He grabbed my arm so hard, he sprained it.

An ex texted me using a new number, i blocked him immediately but didnt tell my bf about it. He found out and accused me of cheating. From then on, he picked a fight every day. Called me a liar and a cheater. This ex who texted me was verbally abusive and when we broke up, he locked me in a room and raped me anally (5 yrs ago). I cried and bled for a week. My bf picked fights about my ex everyday. Once, we had a fight and i said he was slightly abusive. He then yelled at me "You're just accusing me of things, just like you said that ex raped you. I bet you were just asking for it". Then he grabbed and pushed me so hard, he left bruises on my arms, chest and hands. I couldnt breathe.

I stayed anyway and finally last week, he started to trust me again. Asked me to marry him and have kids with me. But 4 days ago, we had dinner and I was saying how happy I was that it was our 10 year friendship anniversary. He just cut me off and said "It wasnt as if you were a good friend to me. You never bothered talking to me". Which is something he does often, blames me for the 10 years i didnt date him. I got sad and he lost his temper, raised his voice at me again. Also, does this often. I would be talking gently and he would raise his voice. After this, he grew distant. Then asked me for a breakup, says he doesnt want me anymore. Tells me that i suffocate him, that he's extremely unhappy and feels forced to be with me. Also, I should mention here that throughout our relationship, I've always been committed and never changed my mind about a future together. He did, asked for a breakup many times. But despite this, he also accused me daily of not being as committed as he was. Our main area of conflict was this: He thinks he's more committed than me.

I love him so much, i always have. So I asked him to stay. That we'll each work on ourselves, give each other space and stay committed to each other. He stayed but he's unhappy, he wont talk to me, he wont give me affection. He raises his voice at me all the time. And i've tried to walk away but I can't. What do i do?
