So alone
Hi, ive never done this but feel so alone so here it goes. In very unhappy marraige 6 years now. He gets so mad about everything. I cannot feel, think, voice an opinion, nothing without get screamed and cusses at bc it isnt how he feels. Intimacy is almost non existent. It used to be so good and fun and loving and slowly it just got worse. I have already been in a physical abusive relationship, and got out of it. This one is now emotionally and mentally abusive. Idk what to do.

Hi Lovebug, just didn't want you to think you were alone. Hopefully somone else with more experience can chime in later.
I am so grateful you are here and that you decided to take a huge risk and share on 7cups. That was super courageous of you. I am hearing that you are feeling that whenever you try to express how you think, feel, or try to voice an opinion that you feel that you are getting screamed at or cussed at. Really, no one deserves to be screamed at or cussed at. It sounds like your significant other might have rage and boundary issues. I'm also hearing that you have a history of being in an abusive relationship and that you mentioned you are now feeling emotionally and verbally abused.
Can you reach out to one of the therapists on 7cups? Or can you call the National Domestic Violence Hotline? 1−800−799−7233. Just in case things become more heated?
When I started to notice a pattern in the men I was chosing to be with, my therapist, told me it would be a good idea to revisit my own childhood, my mother and father's relationship, and why my "picker" was set to choose the same kind of men in my life. I started therapy in my 20s and it's one of the best things I've done for myself.
If there are no resources for therapy, the 800 number would be a good number to call. I also found a 12 step based recovery model that might be really helpful. 12 steps are very reasonable, about 1-2 bucks and free if you absolutely need it. There are in person, online and phone meetings for 12 steps.. https://violenceanonymous.org/
Sending prayers, hope and healing your way! Hope you will continue to update and share with us!
