To Let Go of Someone You Love...
Yesterday I said goodbye to a friend that I love with all my heart. I had fallen in love with him and, at some point, I thought he had fallen in love with me too. However, we couldn't be together for several reasons. We decided to be just the friends each one of us needed so desperately. In the past months though, he started to push me away. I felt more and more disconnected from him every day. He would make excuses and tell me it was because of his depression or "his thought process", but that never was a problem before. It saddened me so much, to see how he was just forgetting about me. When I would tell him that I felt we were growing apart, he would just make an excuse for it. I think he didn't have any interest in keep talking to me and he was just fading away intentionally. He didn't have any real reason to just plainly dismiss me. I think he didn't want to hurt me and that's why he wouldn't be honest about losing interest over our friendship. So, instead of seeing him go through the uncomfortable situation of having to make excuses or talking to me when he really didn't have any interest in doing so, I said goodbye to him myself. I wrote him a text wishing him well and then blocked him from all ways of communication with me. I did it that way, so he wouldn't feel compelled to give me any more excuses or empty apologies. I also did it that way, because it is the only way I know I can get over my feelings for him eventually. Do you guys have any advice for me?
