hi so i'm pretty younh, 15, but i don't have a ton support at home so i'm coming here. my friend and i have been going through a rough patch, but now she's acting like nothing ever happened. i took her to a music festival in san francisco, and she seemed totally fine with me. the thing that's really starting to worry me is that maybe she's just using me, and that i don't actually matter to her. it makes me sick to think about and it's causing me so much anxiety... what do i do? i don't want to hurt her and lose our friendship, but i also want to keep myself safe.

Friends sometimes fight. That's normal. Sometimes people need space, thats normal as well.

Has anything in the past suggested your friend is merely using you? You may be blowing this whole thing out of proportion. There's usually a pattern to the kinds of people who use others.

Have a 1 on 1 conversation with your friend when appropriate. Maybe after school or some other chill environment and get things off your chest (in a non-accusing way).

@laneyandanxiety21 We (meaning strangers on the internet) can't really know whether your friend is toxic or not. You don't have to share (respect for your privacy and safety and all that) but you may want to think about some things.

1. Is there a particular reason or reasons why you feel she's using you? Do you pay for things and she doesn't pay you back, do you feel that she only talks to you when she's bored or needs something, etc?

2. Is there something you feel you should discuss with her? It may be whatever the rough patch was she just brushed it aside and it's just a bump in your friendship. But if you feel it needs to be discussed and she's dismissing your concerns then that's a little different.

Friendships can be hard to navigate, so I get you.
