Triggers in the relationship
My partner knows what makes me really angry, but stil does it and says it's to make me laugh when I'm upset, or to tease me. When I do get mad as a consequence, he tels me to stop making a big fuss and throwing a tantrum, and that he's doing it to laugh, and on purpose. We have had many discussions on the fact that he knows what my buttons are and he pushes them, especially when I'm already sad/upset/annoyed. He tells me that it's his way of trying to make me laugh (to make me feel better) and I reply to him that there is literally nothing that would make me laugh less than that. It almost seems like he's asking me to accept his behavior, but gets upset whenever I do not (I cannot) react the way he expects me to... Please help me understand
@Jabzy I'm so sorry he is acting like this. Regardless of his intention, if you have told him that you don't like the "teasing" he needs to respect that and stop. If he wants to support you when you're upset, he needs to support you in ways that you like and want. Now that you have already expressed this boundary with him, you may have to be even more firm about it or have a more extensive conversation, like "if you continue to "tease" me, I will need to leave the situation". I don't know how your relationship is otherwise and if he is generally understanding in other ways, but you deserve someone who is suppportive and understanding.
