Trying to make sense of it all

So my boyfriend asked me to marry him and he couldn’t stop talking about marriage up until one day he woke up one morning, I was going through some issues with my brother and dad and wanted to talk to him about it.. in the middle of the conversation he texted me that he can’t be there for me right now his friend had a fight with his mom and rushed off to him.. and when I expressed that it bothered me that he just pushed me aside he told me the doesn’t love me anymore..

ive tried to get a explanation from his as to how you can be talking about marriage one day all excited and the next day you tell the person you don’t love them anymore and he just says he lost his feelings and he doesn’t know what to say I didn’t do anything wrong I did everything right but he doesn’t feel anything for me anymore but there is also no one else

how is that possible?

@Afdt1994 that sounds hurtful and even devastating to have someone you are in a committed relationship with change their feelings and behavior so quickly. Clearly there is something going on with him, but if he chooses not to open up to you about it, that says a lot.


I think you are doing a wise thing reaching out here to talk through your feelings. If you can, keep doing that with the people you are closest to in your life. While you are feeling sad and hurt right now, you can work through your feelings and eventually let them go. It might take time and effort, but I believe in you.

Just one perspective to consider, and if it doesn’t resonate that’s ok, you might be grieving the loss of a fantasy of who you thought he was. Bu the reality is he is someone who can Chang his feelings for others extremely and quickly. Is that the type of person you want to have in your life?

i talked to someone on here today too and they also told me basically I should grieve him as if he is dead because the person he was is dead

the person he is now is not the person I love

and unfortunately the person he is now doesn’t love me

and I guess it’s better that it happened before we got married
