Walking away

I've been dating this bloke for about a year, we've never been official, but damn we've had fun and had and honest and respectful relationship. A few times he's mentioned he was not "ready" for a relationship and I've usually followed this with actually we're in much more than a friendship now and I won't accpet anything less than a relationship when we're both ready. And we have done things like meet some of each others mutual friends and I've spent a lot of time with him and his son- he's a full time single father.

Well things seem to have finally come to a head and it's just not working anymore- I want more and he wants to go back to being "just friends". I know in my heart it's time to walk away, but it feels terrible of course.
