What do I do?
I don't know what to do. Me and my boyfriend have been together for almost 3 years. He is constantly putting me down, but he will also do things for me, but with hesitation. I work 60 hours a week and he works 10 hours a week but makes 6 times the amount of money as I do. He says it's not fair I don't pay for anything (but I do) he says it's not fair I don't clean (but I clean most of the time) he gets mad because I don't cook, I don't cook I am tired after my 10 hour days of being a general manager for a messed up cheap company. He doesn't want to listen about my work day, but he asks. He complains about everything all of the time always but tells me I am negative. I am going crazy and he is taking a toll on my health, I am so stressed I think I had a seizure due to stress!!! I love him so much but I think he only cares about himself. Today he was being more rude than normal in the morning so I can tell something was unusual. I checked his phone and he is sexting other women and I asked him about it and he was mad i looked at his phone and said it's my fault he strays because I'm not there for him. I can't stop crying and I have work that I need to finish but I can't because my head.
Oh I'm sorry to hear how you are being affected in this relationship @innkau. Sounds like as you say its taking a toll on your health and well being. And you're really upset now. I wonder if you pause and ask your self if this is what you expected in a relationship, do you deserve to be treated like this, or do you expect/deserve better?
Being constantly put down and criticised undermines you as a person, and affects your sense of self. Maybe look up emotional abuse on the internet to see if this rlelates to your situation If you want to talk some more please message me... we are here for you in understanding and support.
@innkau I'm sorry you have to deal with such an unsupportive and confusing relationship on top of all the hard work you're already doing!
You seem very aware of the negativity in the relationship and how it is literally affecting your health. Now you need to ask yourself, knowing that he is not only unsupportive and negative but now actually unfaithful, is it worth your health, well-being, time, and resources to put up with more, or if you need a break. Especially if you had such a serious health complication, in any situation it would probably be the best to take some time to recover alone or with supportive friends and family. Both your mind and your body need to recover, and removing yourself from any extra stress possible would likely help. Ditching work is probably complicated, so taking a break at least from your boyfriend may be a serious option to consider. While on this break, you can think deeper and more clearly about the relationship as a whole and the future of it. However, trying to navigate everything while still in the midst of the negativity of the relationship would likely make it very difficult to really think everything through properly.
What do you think about taking a break? Have you considered it before?
@WildUnknown I agree. Good advice. xx
