Wonderful boyfriend...doesn't work (on disability)
I have an amazing boyfriend on many fronts. He is kind, calm and smart. Loves our animals. He signed up for permanent disability because he has a bad heart. He is 42. I am 56. I pay for almost everything. Right now I am off work because of bullying and it terrifies me to have no income coming in. I also am graduating in just a few weeks with a Master's degree, and would like to continue on for a PhD. I don't like money shaping love. But at the same time, he wants me to pay for his food, and I'm scared my savings will disappear until I get on my feet. So I got mad at him, and now he says he doesn't want to talk to me for a couple of weeks. I love to work, just not under bullying circumstances. Any thoughts or insights are welcome...and thank you!

Hello, thoughtfulNectarine
It sounds like your boyfriend relies on you for stablity and financial assistance and you are struggling with that. I have a few questions, if you and your boyfriend were not together, where would he be able to find food and other necessary items? Seeing that he is on disability, he must get some some of government/country assistance for things like that, right? How about food stamps or food shelf locations? I find it sad that he would stop talking to you because you are unable to financially assist him. It sounds like he is putting a lot of pressure on you, when there may be services available that he can receive to support his needs.
I would encourage him to research his options in his area, instead of relying on you. If he considers this a deal breaker with your relationship, than perhaps it's best to part ways until he is able to financially support himself.
Good luck and take care
xx

Thank you so much for your response TrueArrow. I don't see him as having inclination to stand on his own. He gets a disability check every month. He does odd jobs for his friends. That's about it. He is a great guy in a million ways. But in terms of taking care of himself...not so much. We have been together for 16 years! So this is strange. But if he just wants me to take care of him...I can live without that. I thank you!
