so in February on Valentine's Day (which was our 6 months) I posted my long distance boyfriend on my story. no big deal right? well my best friend at the time started threatening me saying she would cut if I didn't give her his snap. I refused and she literally sent me a video of her self harming. I gave in, naturally, and she videoed her throwing the blade away. that night I fell asleep early and I didn't think anything of it until I woke up the next day and she had him as her 11:11. he had no shirt on and was smiling bigger than id ever seen on him. the caption said "thank you for making my Valentine's Day amazing❤️😘" we fought for days over it and then we got it fixed, only to find out they were talking again. I was crushed... she's texted me three times since then, all of which she asked for me back. I am still with him but she doesn't know. also, I am not allowed to date so I've had to keep this whole thing a secret from my parents which kills me. what do I do? do I take her back? how do I forgive her? and is it considered cheating?

I'm pretty disturbed by your friend manipulating you with threats of self-harm. It sounds like there are some complicated dynamics between you, her, and your boyfriend that require sorting out.

Some things you might ask yourself. Is your friend going to keep manipulating you? Is your boyfriend going to persist with inappropriate exchanges with your friend? And do you really need people like this in your life?

@hopefulWinter7649 hi... this is very bizarre. It is not normal for someone to threaten you like that in order to gain access to your boyfriend and it sounds like she may need some very deep help. Sometimes when people tell you that they truly feel that way, they're not trying to manipulate you -- however, this does not sound like one of those cases. Emphasize that she needs to seek help for self-harming but do not feel obligated to jeopardize your safety.
