Christian Beliefs: Online Dating and Sin...
As a person that is deeply concerned about following the Bible. It has always bothered me how looking for Women online has put me inline with something that the Bible calls "Sin". More times than I can count I have felt like I have had to compromise, only to make no relationship progress. It has caused me a lot of sadness.
Men will be Men. It isn't easy to be a Christian Guy. We have the same sexual desires that any other guys has. Since we believe that looking at a woman with lust is the same as having sex with her, and since we believe that one needs to get married before having sex. We try to handle our drives a little differently. Honestly I'm not good at handling my drive, and I'm skeptical of any Christian guy that tries to tell me he found freedom of it. Yes I have met some of those guys. But I have only met these guys online. Which means I got to take their word for it, and I have no way to observe them.
The last guy that I met who told me that He got free of his desires. Was a guy who was divorced, but He claimed that someone cast a demon out of Him. That is an interesting subject as it is!
Did you know that some Christians believe that once Jesus is in your heart, you can't have a demon in you anymore. You can be demonically oppressed if God allows it. But you can resist that demon. There is another kind of Christian that believes that a Christian can be demonized. In order to get rid of that demon or demons they need to be cast out. I have studied these views, and I think they are both strange views, with not much scripture to back it up.
All I basically wanted to say with this post is, Online dating makes me feel like I'm on the edge of sinning, or maybe even sinning. Since I can't do it the right way. I believe the right way is to meet a Woman in real life, that you happen to hit it off with, and from there Love naturally grows. Now days it seems that everyone has become extremely selfish. But this is just how I'm seeing and feeling about things.
@tryingtosurvive2024 A side note: I write about this because it weighs on my mind. Yet I have done studies into it lust, and I can tell you that there are multiple Christian views on this. I hope that anyone who reads this, and wants to make a comment will have an open mind, and a open heart.

Just a small curious thing: Many years ago in my country appeared two niche dating sites. One of them was for people who declared themselves as Christians. The other for people who thought of themselves as of atheist or non-Catholic.
I think we may have some common points in a definition of sin. For me a sin would be cheating on my partner. A sin would be treating a person like a thing. A sin would be having sex with someone I have no feelings to. A sin would be destroying someone's else happy marriage...
But I believe that at the very core every religion is about love, empathy and doing no harm. Not about guilt, because - considering human nature (we cannot fully control our thoughts or emotions, and only God is perfect, right?) - that could easily lead to double standards (or, as you said "That was the demon who made it, not me!", yeah, certainly 😉).
I think the idea was for the mankind to survive, to not get physically and mentally degenerated, and for the children to be raised in stable families, with two parents.
Also, I believe that is about either seeing things in all-or-nothing or black-or-white categories, or seeing them somewhere on the continuum between "extremely good" and "extremely bad", though still aiming for the best.
@jacek73 Cheating is defiantly evil. I think people cheat because something is wrong in the relationship.
@tryingtosurvive2024 you are a true Christian and that's something to be respected ❤ I admire you for that ❤ times have changed and with it so as people and variations of the bible. The only person who seems to have conquered the lust thing is that guy from the simpsons🤔🤔 Ned flanders, and even he has his moments🙂 dating scene has changed, interaction between humans in general has changed. The internet has a big part in this for better or worse it's changed the world. I say follow what your heart is telling you ❤ we are all sinners, but that doesn't make us a bad person in the eyes of God ❤

@Tinywhisper11 Unless you are reading the passion translation of the Bible. It doesn't change. They try to make the language easier to understand, but the over all message stays the same.
