How to know if you are on the right path towards liberation?
When you reach to the advanced level of understanding, the illusions begin to fall. You can see through the truth of things, nature of existence, the lies that once seemed true. You begin to understand things in a way you have never before. You are no longer bound. Acceptance starts to be your preference. You start to forgive. You start to detach from material things, including your body and your mind.
@BlatantHonesty
Your words: "You start to detach from material things, including your body and your mind." That's terrible sad written - detach from body and mind!!!
@BlatantHonesty I think this is a Buddhist and Hindu goal. Other religions have different goals.
@Oracle1973
There is only one goal. You can call it whatever you want. Enlightenment.
@BlatantHonesty I will respectfully disagree. The goal of other religions is eternal life...Heaven, Jannah...this is a different concept. Some Eastern religions have so-self concepts. Abrahamic religions certainly believe in the "self" and typically an afterlife that includes a body.
@Oracle1973 *no-self, not "so-self"
@Oracle1973
I'd respectfully disagree too. You are trying to rationalize things that can not be rationalized. Whether it's Prophet Mohammed or Jesus Christ, the heaven and afterlife concept can not be grasped by non-realized beings. It's our foolishness that we think we can decipher what Jesus or any of the prophets meant. Again they had to use words, because that's how we communicate. People's inability to understand what they mean is very conspicuous in today's world. Had they been there, they would have been bamboozled by the imbecility that ensues on their behalf.
@BlatantHonesty Here's what I'm saying: other religions teach different things than you are saying they do (e.g., about afterlife). I think you're saying that other religions just don't realize that they're mistaken? Is that right?
@Oracle1973
No, I'm just saying the interpretations can vary.
@BlatantHonesty "Whether it's Prophet Mohammed or Jesus Christ, the heaven and afterlife concept can not be grasped by non-realized beings. It's our foolishness that we think we can decipher what Jesus or any of the prophets meant. "
Believers in these religions (and their textual authorities (i.e., doctrines)) disagree with you. You must be saying these religions are mistaken, as they say these essential concepts are able to be explained and understood. They believe their prophets were clear on these important issues. I don't see another way. It isn't a linguistic issue, it's a conceptual issue. I will let you have the last word if you wish. I don't think you and I will agree on this matter, because I will cite what the religions teach; you will cite mystical and personal interpretations.
I sincerely wish you the best and I have no desire to sound quarrelsome. We approach this issue differently.
Best regards!
@Oracle1973
I really have no issues with followers of any religion disagreeing with me. I don't want to sound quarrelsome either. The reason why any of the religions exist is because you can think. Think about the why and how of our existence. I have absolutely no issue with people who are satisfied with the explanations they receive on these foundational questions. I'll let them live in peace.
But those who dare to question and want to understand the existence a bit more clearly, those are the people my words are for. And those people belong in every religion. Because religion is assigned at birth(mostly) but philosophy is what you have to navigate by yourself. I hope you understand the two different types of people, I'm talking about.
If you read my words in that light, you might understand what I'm saying and to whom I'm saying that.
Have a nice day.
Best regards,
BlatantHonesty.
