One of Many Negative Experience With Christian Social Networking.
I have been thinking and planning on writing about my past forum and social networking experiences. This one is under the Religion and Spirituality heading because this story evolves around Christianity. But I have some other ones that don't evolve around Christianity.
@Tinywhisper11 asked me to tag her in my next post on this subject. I probably will talk about my experiences in the Model Airplane forums, and the Linux forums as well. But they probably won't be mixed into Religion & Spirituality unless they serve to prove a point.
Usually when I write my stuff, I just get a spontaneous thought or memory that I feel that might make a good topic. Or it is something that is bugging me, or has bugged me for a very long time. A very long time could be literally years of bad memories, that I don't know what to do with them. I want to learn from my past mistakes and become a better person for it. However not everything is my fault, and I feel like I got to make weird adjustments for other folk weirdness. This is one of those stories. At least it feels that way to me.
Looking back at my internet memories, I have never been fully happy with Christian Social Networking or Forums. In my opinion they both have the same problem. When you mix different Christian Denominations together, all they want to do is debate with each other. People actually seem to have fun, or perhaps they really think they are making a difference by doing this. One person told me that He thought that there is a lot of bad theology and He had to correct people so that a new person to the faith, can get the correct information.
It is my opinion, that doing what He was or is doing is helping anything. I told him it is like walking into a room full of people and everyone is speaking their views. The new person doesn't have a clue who is right and who is wrong.
Personally I felt like I'm not good enough to debate anything. So I tend to keep my beliefs to myself. However in a one on one discussion, I have no problem telling someone what my views are. But I don't want it to turn into an argument. I just want to talk about about it, and compare notes with the other person.
My main reason, for joining Christian Social Networking and Forums, is to have fellowship with other believers. These people don't seem to care about fellowship. They only seem to care about spreading their views, and who is right and who is wrong.
Like I have done many times before, I was on a Christian Social Networking Site, looking to make friends. For some reason a Woman contacted me, and invited me to a new social networking site she had just created. She told me it is a place for like minded people like us. It was going to be a place for friendships. She named it the friendship society. Here I was again, joining another social networking site. It wasn't all that "Christian" but I was under the impression that I could openly share like I would on a Christian Social and Forum sites. Back then I didn't even feel comfortable openly sharing like I do now. As a result, I would write or post some pictures and then when I felt like it, I would take that information back down. I just wasn't confident in what I was doing. I didn't want to get into trouble.
It wasn't that long after she started the site, that she said she was too busy to maintain it. So she converted it into a group under another guy's social networking site. I forget how I was moved over to it. But as I was doing what I always did, He direct messaged me, or back then we always called it Private Messages. Since it was just between two people, and the public didn't see it. He told me how He didn't like it that I would post and then remove my posts. For that reason He was thinking about banning me. And then He talked about how He didn't like Bible thumpers. I was a bit taken back by this. Cause I didn't think of myself as a Bible thumper. I didn't even think that what I was posting was Bible thumping. Some Christian Metal lyrics by a band call tourniquet was about as close to the Bible as I was posting at that time. He also told me that He was making this social networking for his wife to have once He's gone. I thought this was a very strange person I'm talking too. So I checked to see if I could delete my account. I was glad that I found that feature, and deleted my account and left. I hadn't made any real friends there anyways.
As I was writing this, I did some google searches. As far as I can tell, it looks like his site is no longer around. She's still got a page up, but it is still appears to be inactive since 2010.
@tryingtosurvive2024 thanks for the tag ❤❤ yep! Talking about religion even with people of the same faith, always seems to end in debates and heated discussions🙁 but you have a safe environment here, judge free, you can talk about your faith here ❤ I will always listen to you ❤ I like to hear and learn from others like you 🙂 ❤ I'm glad you got out of those other sites, if you can't just confidently talk about your faith in those places, then it's not good for you ❤❤
sorry for late reply, for xmas I got food poisoning 🙁😂😂 but I'm better now 😁❤ hugs you tightly ❤❤
@Tinywhisper11 I'm glad you are feeling better. 😄 My number 1 rule for hugs is this. You can hug me as often as you want, but puking on me is not allowed. 🤪
I think it is healthy to talk about religion. But unfortunately most people are immature. They can't seem to get around the fact that other people see and feel about things differently than they do. I don't think you can change people through argument, but if they are willing to explore with you, they will come to new conclusions as they learn with you. (((hugs)))
@tryingtosurvive2024 yes that's right ❤ every religion is a journey, you need to learn at your own pace ❤
No puking on you🙁😟😩
ok 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
All I can say is: welcome to the Internet...the place where people say what they really think, & show their true selves.
@slowdecline48 Are people honest on ***? I don't think so.
@tryingtosurvive2024 I don't think people are honest on I.G.
@tryingtosurvive2024 That's different. Instaspam & Fakebook posts are all about presenting a preferred image of oneself. Comment threads are where people get to say what they really think without the risk of getting their as.ses whipped for it, no matter what their opinions are like.
@slowdecline48 That's how I see it too... Only I kinda disagree with you because I've been banned from forums for saying a lot less... You still got to keep your comments within the rules they enforce... I got nothing against rules, yet some of the rules I've seen have been detrimental to my social and mental health... I hate it when that happens.... One person encouraged me to start my own blog so that I could say whatever I wanted without being afraid of being banned...
