Poetry/Benefits
An attempt at the traditional 5-7-5
Love long forgotten
Desire, power, greed, and lust
Poison for the soul
Boundaries trampled
Leave pain, heartache, bloodied tears
Running yourself down
Wall encased castle
Precious diamonds locked away
Vaults guarded with key
So why not protect
The flesh and blood, the heart that beats
The frail mind inside
Your ilm is armor
Only when equipped daily
Correctly placed trust
Not in means, not key
Not in the blessings bestowed
In your Lord alone
Sustenance for souls
Is not found in those around
You’ll let yourself down
The sower does not sow the weedy soil
Nor the rocky path
Nor the unstable earth
But you leave your deen to those who hate you
Woe onto you who fall into bad company
A poison diffusing your soul
If they run the crooked way
You, trying to remain on your own
Run parallel
Fall into the same drone
They will burn your clothes
Leave you pungent
With evil, bid’ah, and sin
You run to them
Leaving the one, who calls you their friend
The sweet smelling musk
In exchange for desire
What benefit does it bring
What rewards will be reaped
Walking towards the fire
My brother, my sister,
My companion, my friend
I ask you today
How many do you know
that will continue to grow
up, in the right way
Nasiha comes in many forms
Show and tell
A note
A voice
When you receive it
And you adhere
I hope you made the right choice
One written for my - A Message for Lulwa
Tethered we walk
The translational path
I polish the pearl
You water my plant
Two souls tidally locked
Eyes fixed on Al-Hādī (The Guide)
I swear by Allah I wont let you fall
without reaching out
As my palms kiss the earth
My voice cries out
Let not a tear fall without reward
A day pass without salah
A year without fast
A life without jannah
Let her eyes remain fixed on you
Lest she fall blind
Let my friends companionship run white
God forbid, I stray
I hope she will reach out
When mine eyes drift towards the dunya
I hear her call
A reminder of my Creator
Wrapped in silk and chiffon
