Looking out for your personal well-being...
Staying safe covers a pretty broad spectrum, but what we often forget is self care is a form of safety, too. We have the tendency to overextend ourselves and burn ourselves out, especially online where it's all too easy to get sucked in to the vortex of the cyber world. And sometimes we get caught up in it all, and lose sight of ourselves, and it can get overwhelming.
So my question: when was the last time you took a self care break? When is enough enough, and you need to sign off and unplug? When do you know when to stop and remember to keep your mental wellness safe, too?
I keep reminding myself that while its not a job, I try to treat it as a job in certain ways. I try to assign myself a certain number of things to get done in a day and then force myself to log off.
Now if I could just get consistent with that. Just so many interesting people to talk with, it makes it hard. :P
@Heather225 Self-care is really underrated. I started a new job recently (and even decided to finally join this site formally because I was experiencing anxiety over it) and I am big on self-care. Weekends are for me and stuff I need to get done. Not just in terms of errands like grocery shopping and cooking (although obviously those are important too!) but in being low-key, not being so rigid in my schedule, catch up on some Netflix, reading, hobbies, etc.
It's very important for me to keep to this, especially as my new job will require I work a bit outside of the set schedule and it's definitely a shift for me. It's still early on so I'm aware that I need time to settle in and everything but so it's just more important that I also make sure that self-care is part of the equation.
