This Conversation Has Ended?

I was in the middle of a chat with a listener and a pop up appeared and said "This Conversation Had Ended" or something like that. I was then directed to find another listener. Do listeners just disappear like that? What am I supposed to do? I'm feeling worse now than when I started chatting.

Hey @gentleWriter33! I'm sorry to hear that your listener left abruptly, I understand how disheartening that must feel for you (and I've had similar experiences as a member myself) but know that it isn't a reflection on you! Sometimes listeners get scared when they don't know the best way to handle a chat or if they feel inexperienced in what you're going through, and unfortunately that fear can cause them to leave unexpectedly. And other times, there can be connection issues as well. I hope you'll give chatting another shot, there are a lot of great listeners here who would love to support you (me included!) and I'm glad you came here to reach out, that's a huge step in itself. If there's anything you'd like to about in the forums, you're welcome to that as well! Sorry again you've had a bad experience :(

Shanna--Thanks so much for responding to my question. I can understand a listener leaving, sort of. If the listener just stopped responding then it could be anything causing it, you know? But I was just really surprised at the pop-up thing appearing to tell me the chat was over and then bumping me to the choose a listener page. It was just so abrupt and then nothing, I can't even get back to the conversation now. But I guess I understand and I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

I definitely hear you, the pop-up can feel rather aggressive and abrupt, I know what you mean! If you remember the listener's name, you could also try messaging again to ask for clarification as to why they ended the chat that way if that would make you feel any better, I know it's a confusing situation and that it can be hurtful to be shut out like that. Feel free to message me anytime if you want to talk more, I don't know what's brought you to 7 cups but I'd be happy to listen and support you any way that I can :)

I'm extremely sorry you feel worse after chatting. I apologize that you didn't have the greatest experience. It is common curtesy to give aheads up when leaving. However, the listener may have had a valid reason as to why they left so abruptly. I would encourage you to seek another listener. I hope you're doing okay and feel better soon.

Hey there @gentleWriter33 , listeners sometimes leave the chat and let members waiting for answers! I do comprehend that this is really annoying because I have faced it a great number of times as a member. The truth is that since listeners have the chance of getting offline when they want - even though they talk with somebody - I cannot help with this situation.

However,If you need to talk to somebody, there are a lot of listeners who really want to help you in any case!

Sincerely, Deadlyalone
