What Is The Best Way To Deal With Disruptive Posters Within These Forums?
I am part of a bunch of forum threads that are games played by specific rules. Fairly frequently, new players enter the thread of the game and disrupt the flow of play by adding random posts, ot by having no idea of the way the games are structured to be played. Those of us who have been playing these games for months and months are pretty much over being seriously upset by these disruptions, as we get that people might not bother to read the rules, ot maybe even the thread titles,,, and it's alright to make honest mistakes. We have, I believe, developed tactful and fair ways to gently remind our fellow players how to play so that we may all enjoy the games.
On occasion, however, we have people that disrupt the games by repeatedly posting what they want, how they want. They return over and over, ignoring any suggestions or gentle reminders of how the dozens of other players require the games to be played to make them work for everyone.
How can we approach this issue? I want anyone who would like to join any game thread to feel welcome, but I also feel it important to keep them running largely disruption-free, since persistent "trouble-makers" seem to upset the sense of community lightheartedness so many of us engage in the game forums to find.
There has to be an appropriate and mature way to solve this problem... right??
I say "ignore" eventually the behavior will extinguish (stop) or change once they figure out the protocol! ;)
@Italiana64 After 1 or 2 months? That's the thing-- we are REALLY good, I think, at trying to address or ignore these behaviors. But there have been a couple people who JUST are so repeatedly disruptive, like several times a week, and we've tried every supportive and polite way to discourage either confusion or intentional "game sabotage" to no effect. These are generally games that require a building upon from 1 entry to the next. Posters get rightfully offput and stymied trying to work around the interruptions. Some folks get fed up and irritated, and stop using the forums either permanently or for fairly long stretches out of frustration.
I just want to help make it work and be fun for all interested parties.
