Why does everyone treat me like a 'lost child'?
Throughout my brief experience in this website I noticed most people tend to say something in the lines of "What's wrong?"
That causes me to feel somewhat similar to being a lost child in a market. That bothers me a bit, since I feel like everyone pities me automatically like somethings wrong with me. I'd simply prefer it if people would treat you as a 'troubled friend'
Meaning they'd act more like a peer than someone looking down upon me as if I was well, some type of "homeless person" (no offense [I have a friend that volunteers at my church that's homeless and when theydescribed their feelings when people seemed to look at them with pity, this reminded me of it])
So, what I'm wondering is do most people tend to 'look down' on you saying. "What's wrong" or "I'm so so terribly sorry"
I came here to speak with a "friend" figure and I don't feel like I'm getting that
Asking what's wrong is the first step toward initiating a helpful dialog between two people. And saying "sorry" is a way of empathizing with another's pain. Both of those things are required for being an empathic listener.
