Safety Case Scenario Discussion - GS
Hello! Welcome to another Teen Safety Sunday post!
Today, well be having a discussion about group support and playing a game!
- - -
We wrote out 3 possible scenarios that may occur in the chatrooms for you to reflect on, and tell us what you think! Look out for our feedback and ideas to these discussion questions this Friday
Answer as few or as many of these questions for each situation below:
★ What steps would you take in this situation?
★ Who could you contact during this?
★ These are just some examples of ways you can tell us what you think!
Without further ado, lets jump in!

Situation 1: You enter Teen Support, and there is a listener telling their life story to the room. They continue saying how nobody cares about them because they are a listener and that people (members) just want them to support them, but listeners need support, too.
Situation 2: When you enter Community Room 1 to hangout with your friends, one of your closest friends sends a link for you to join them. The link is to an offsite group, and your friend says how great it is there and that there are no mods.
Situation 3: As you enter General Support, there is a member expressing how they are going to punish themselves, going into explicit detail about how they are going to self harm.

In situation 2, I don't think it's necessary to contact anyone. I'd just tell them that if they want us to talk without mods, we can privately chat and I'd remind them that offline contact is against the rules :)
Answering as a moderator but trying to think of it from an L point of view <3 But with the rooms listed they are pop up disscusion rooms so these situations would not arise now <3

For this situation I would remind them of the rules that for support as a listener we need to switch to a members account, if they continue you can ask for a mod to intervene in the room. You can contact a moderator during this as previously said <3.

I would take action in doing a emergency moderator form as this is offsite and not allowed in the rooms, this would allow the moderator to be alerted and be able to delete the link. I would also let them know that we are not allowed to share offsite.
Situation 3: As you enter General Support, there is a member expressing how they are going to punish themselves, going into explicit detail about how they are going to self harm.
I would remind them that when in crisis they can not be on 7 cups, I would also use the moderator form as a way to let them know that someone is talking about how they are going to harm themself. I would try to figure out if they are active or passive in the situation aswell.
