How to deal with bullying and rumors?

I need advice? I'm a girl and I'm autistic and I've always been a tomboy. I wear t-shirts and cargo pants and jeans and sneakers and hoodies. I never wear makeup. I've been getting bullied since elementary school to high school. I used to go to college classes but I stopped going. When I went to college classes there was these girls. They were always bullying me. They bullied me about my clothes , my hair and not wearing makeup. They started a rumor calling me a lesbian. I don't go to the college anymore but every time I go out in public there's people who bully me and call me a lesbian. I'm really depressed. I feel like I'm not feminine enough. I'm feel alone. I'm straight. And I've never dated anyone..

I don't know what to do? What should I do?

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. What you’re feeling is completely valid, and I want you to know none of this is your fault. The way you dress, your interests, the fact that you're autistic, your quiet strength these are all parts of who you are, and they are not reasons for anyone to treat you with cruelty or disrespect.

People who bully others often do it because they can’t stand to see someone live authentically when they themselves are stuck trying to fit in. It doesn’t make what they do okay, but it does mean their words are not a reflection of your worth they’re a reflection of their own insecurity and ignorance.

You don’t need to change yourself to be accepted. You don’t need makeup or dresses or a “feminine” look to be valid, lovable, or beautiful. You already are. Your strength, your sensitivity, your honesty they’re powerful. There’s nothing wrong with being a tomboy. There’s nothing wrong with being quiet or different. And there is *absolutely* nothing wrong with you for not having dated anyone yet. Everyone moves through life at their own pace.

I know it feels incredibly lonely, but you’re not truly alone. There are people people like me, people in the neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ ally communities, people in safe and kind corners of the world who see you, who get it, and who would stand by your side in a heartbeat.

Please don’t let their cruelty convince you to dim your light. You are enough just as you are. You are worthy of respect, kindness, and love. And you deserve to feel safe in your skin.

@AutisticArtist I’ve actually been bullied for wearing makeup, and I’ve had my fair share of rumors. The truth is, bullies often target people for no real reason—it’s not about you, so please don’t blame yourself.

About the lesbian rumor… honestly, I take that as a compliment. Where I’m from, men can be awful, and sometimes I wish I was a lesbian too, just to avoid all that mess. So don’t let that get to you.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I know how exhausting it is—hearing people whisper behind your back or laugh when you walk by. It’s hurtful and frustrating. But remember: their behavior reflects who they are, not who you are. Don’t let them scare you into shrinking or hiding—that’s exactly what they want. They want control and power because of their own insecurities.

Wearing baggy clothes? That’s comfortable and cool. You do you. They don’t get to decide how you live or who you are. You’re strong, even if it doesn’t always feel that way
