Self esteem issues and loneliness
I feel u am very dumb and struggle to talk to people.
I make friends but very soon people lose interest in me because I don’t have much to talk about. I don’t understand how to talk to people.
I am very lonely. Please help
@Shygirl2828 You've actually got a head-start here as It sounds like people find you approachable enough to initially be a friend; the difficulty seems to be one of keeping them. That's where learning the art of small talk comes into its own. As someone said (I think it was Trevor Noah) 'small talk is what unites us, it's the big talk that divides.' Another consideration is that being a good conversationalist comes down to being a good listener - most people's favourite topic of conversation is themselves. Ask about their lives, hobbies, pets - any area where you don't have to focus on you. The way to get over the self is to forget the self. Glen's Increasing Confidence and Self Esteem growth path on here is very helpful, and in it he asks us to set small goals for interaction each day, and to remember that no one is dwelling on your insecurities. Wishing you the best of luck!
Will check out Glen’s self esteem and confidence path.
Thank you so much for caring to respond. Means a lot to me
@Shygirl2828 the great thing about it is, that it is just about building skills, and gets easier with practice.
Could you please tell me how to find the path?

Thank you for being so open and honest. It takes real courage to share something that feels so vulnerable.
Struggling with conversation or feeling like you don’t know what to say doesn’t make you less than anyone else. So many of us carry that quiet fear that we’re "not enough" ,not interesting enough, not talkative enough but, the truth is, your presence has value just as it is. You don’t have to be loud, funny, or perfect to matter. Just being you is already worthy.
Loneliness is a heavy place to be, and I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way right now. You’re not alone anymore, not here. There are people who care, who want to listen, and who will accept you even in silence.
