What does self-harm recovery mean to you?
Recovery can mean different things to everyone! It is natural for your recovery to be going differently to someone else's. You should never compare yourself. Every person is unique and heals at different speeds.
Recovery is often described as a process, meaning it isn't always straightforward. You may have day (or weeks, or months) where you feel well or 'better' but there can also be days when symptoms return. (2021,MHF)
It is natural to struggle during recovery. If we didn't struggle would we even be human ❓
The main thing during self harm recovery is finding safer coping mechanisms and distractions that can help us during our difficult times where we need more support. A distraction I enjoy is spending time with my cats. They help me a lot and make me feel supported (even though they can't talk 😸) ! It can take a long time to find something that works best for you but we are here to support you along the way. Never Give Up! Keep Going!!
What distractions/coping techniques have you tried ?
How well did they work and what things do you plan to try in the future?
