How to tell a parent?
I want to tell my mom, I want her support to get better. The problem with that is, she’s highly reactive, and she partially caused it.
She’s been making my school and home life really stressful recently, she found out about my grades (I’m not failing anything, she’s just upset that I’m not a straight-A student like I was in elementary school) and she’s been hounding me to do all this overdue homework, and she won’t slow down to understand how to help, but she tries anyways. It’s hurting both of us.
I regularly test for depression, and it had been going down since I came on here in November, but this last time a day or two ago it spiked from 40-some to 83%. It’s her.
She has unresolved problems that we’re trying to get her to face, but it makes her doubt herself and have really low self esteem, so she blames herself when things like this come up. I can’t say that she’s wrong here, though …
Thoughts? Anything worked for anyone before?
@politePlace5370 for the depression test, are you going to a doctor for that? if not, it's not going to accurately assess if you have depression or not. and i'd suggest writing her a letter on how you feel so she has time to think before she responds. list things that both you *and* her could do better, so she doesn't feel targeted. good luck!
