I am not completely sure if what I have been dealing with since the 3rd grade is considered self-harm. I am currently entering the 12th grade, and I have noticed myself becoming much harsher with my body over the years. It started with small sensory behaviors when I was overstimulated, like peeling my nails, biting my hands, and falling on purpose. More recently, when I get particularly overwhelmed, it has escalated to using a brush to rub at my skin, picking at the soles of my feet, and using my belt.I feel conflicted about labeling this as self-harm because whenever people bring up the topic, they usually talk about severe or fatal actions. Personally, I do not find the things I do to be very painful, so I feel a bit odd about it. Is this still considered self-harm? And I know I mostly do these actions to self regulate I rarely do so out of true self loathing.

hey, this is how my self harm started. I would consider it sh. now ive gotten into scratching and cutting. I think you should get help before it escalates. just because it could be worse doesn't mean it isnt bad and doesn't mean youre not struggling. hugs 💜
