I am struggling with self harm. I want to recover but I'm not doing very well so it's baby steps for now just to reduce the amount of harm being done.

I have a friend who struggled with self harm too in the past and she brings it up sometimes. She doesn't know about my self harm and I also don't want anyone to know because I'm embarrassed about it, but being reminded of sh does trigger me.

I don't want to tell her she can't talk about it - I'm glad she feels comfortable enough with me to talk about her mental health - but I also want to try and recover. So I guess I'm asking here, what would you do? How would you tell her? Or would you just suck it up and let her talk about it?

@rainbowelf

This is one of many challenges  a person faces when trying to recover it is hard to be supportive and help someone else dealing with it.... is there anyone you have told about your issue?

sometimes telling someone makes a person feel accountable to really stop for good.

is it possible telling her that you also have some issue .. you both could be each others support? While her situation may be different she might be able to empathize with whatever you are going through also.
