i just want to share my story, hoping for advice
hello i have been self harming since 6th grade due to family problems and academic pressure, my parents found out i was sh when i was in the 3rd year of middle school, i was 15 and by then and covid hits. i was really down and harming myself more and gaining a lot of weight, exactly 10kg just in 2 months time. even after knowing i harm myself, they blame for being stupid and crazy, blaming it on my phone and social media assumptions. but to be honest i was not that active on social media until covid hits. i was burrying myself in books, trying to gain my parents recognition. i want them to see me. i am now 19 and commit to stop harming myself just few months ago. but recently i was met with a huge problem which leads me into wanting to do sh again so is there anyone with good advice on what can i do? this is also my first time trying to stop myself from sh since i started.
@94520 Hey, thank you so much for sharing all of this. I just want to start by saying: you’re not alone, and what you’re feeling makes so much sense given everything you've carried for so long.
It sounds like you’ve been trying to survive in an environment where your pain hasn’t been seen or understood, and that can be incredibly heavy. The fact that you’ve committed to stopping self-harm, even if it’s just been a few months, is something truly brave. I hope you can give yourself credit for that. Recovery isn’t linear, and having urges again doesn’t mean you’ve failed, it just means you're human and still learning how to cope with really big emotions.
In moments like this, it can help to have a plan, maybe a list of small, safe things that bring even a tiny bit of relief or grounding. Sometimes distraction helps, other times just talking to someone who listens without judgment can make a difference. You're not crazy, and your pain is not too much. You deserve support, recognition, and healing.
If it feels right for you, you're welcome to keep talking here. Sending hugs and support your way 💜
