A new way of coping
This might not be the right group to post this in - so apologies in advance.
I’ve never really self harmed until a couple of weeks ago. And I’m not really sure why I started except cutting makes me feel better somehow. And even thinking about doing it during the day makes me feel better. But I’m also not sure if maybe I’m just being attention seeking. Like I hide it, but maybe I actually want someone to notice, to care and to ask me if I’m ok.

I think the concept of self-harm may have a lot of motivators behind it, but it is a dangerous thing to fall into. It's nice that it makes you feel better, but I do have a few replacements that helped me and weren't doing any serious damage!
I'm not sure if you are looking to stop, so I do not want this post to come off as rude or like I am ignoring how it makes you feel. However, when I used to self-harm I was able to stop by drawing on myself where I wanted to cut, so using a pen or sharpie to doodle on my arm or my thigh. It's relieving and fun too. For a while I also kept a rubber band on my wrist that I could snap if I was thinking about hurting myself; these may be useful for you!
Otherwise, it makes sense to want to be seen and heard. It doesn't make you attention-seeking to harm yourself, you may just genuinely want to feel as though you are cared for. If that is the case, I hope you know there are many members here to support you and you are very appreciated here <3
