Help telling to my family
Hi there :) (TW self harm)
Sorry I'm not English but I'll do my best : I have many scars and it's ok like I live with it. The thing is I visit my parents this summer, in a countryside that gets EXTRA hot from june to september.
And even if my mom knows about my problems, she refuses to let me show my skin because she's scared to see what happened. Even worst, I have a 11 yo little brother (I'm 20) and if I ever get to wear a swimsuit or anything... How do you explain to a kid not to worry about things like that? How to reasure him and hide that I'm a little silly sometimes ?
Please answer anything but I really need help I can't find it anywhere and I'm soo worried.

Please don't call yourself silly. It seems like you have gone through a lot, and your scars are part of your story. For your little brother, children are often okay with simple explanations. You don't need to explain everything in detail. Just say enough to reassure him that you are safe and okay and that he doesn't need to worry. I hope your family can meet you with understanding and compassion.

hey, thanks a lot for your answer, it’s so heartwarming. In the end things go better with a few weeks of adaptation for my family. I’m pretty relieved I must say.
