TW// self harm and body dysmorphia
I haven't self harmed in a while, i think nearly two years since I've cut which makes me happy, I'm not sure how long it's been since I've hit myself but today I came really close to both.
my body dysmorphia has hit me like a train these past few weeks and I don't know why. I hate everything about my face. I wish it would just go away, when it was at its worst I'd have these fits of anger and hatred where I would hit myself in the face because of how much pain it causes me inside and today I almost did that again. I managed not to, but I feel so ashamed. I also had thoughts about relapsing cutting but I decided against it becuase I know it wouldn't be worth it. I'm glad I didn't but it's the closest I've come in a while. I thought I was doing better, I feel so ashamed. Why can't I just be normal?
Hey @f4cebookstory, I know that you've been having a hard time with body dysmorphia, and that it has been so difficult for you that you've even contemplated cutting. I am so glad that you made the right choice in deciding not to cut again. Relapsing can lead you down a dark path and I am sure that the 7 Cups community is rooting for your self-improvement as opposed to deterioration. I want you to know that you are also very normal! Having feelings and thoughts that aren't normal to you doesn't mean that you aren't normal because your feelings are valid and YOU are valid. Remember to take moments for self-care and try to practice exercises that involve boosting your self-esteem. Do things that make you feel better about yourself, as hard as that might be or may sound. I want you to remember that there is light even in the darkest moments! We are here for you. I wish you the best and I hope that you can learn to love and accept your body. <3
