Never let a boy ruin your life.

You are BEAUTIFUL, exactly as you are, without scars.

I was self harming for about 2 years.. when I first stared I told someone who I thought was a friend but actually wasn't and she threatened to tell my dad so I told him and he yelled at me and called me insane and crazy... I told him I had stopped but I never did.. I flushed my blades earlier this year and I've been 141 days clean. things do get better but I regret flushing my blades sometimes and I hate it.. I still have some scars and they trigger me and I just want to cut again so badly...

Sort of... I'm always trying not to telling myself 'Don't do it!' 'People will know!' You won't look beautiful!' I still do it, it's my little distraction from life. It hurts, but i never draw blood... Not yet anyway..

I am 15 and have been self harming for almost 6 years. Yes, since elementary school. And my parents have found out 3 times and not done anything to help.

For those who struggle with this... How do you handle the urge when self help fails? And iF you do cave esp after a long time"clean" how do you keep that from starting a spiral...feel guilty, failure, need to do more to drown that out?

I self harm not because of misery, but the marks are interesting, and I love to look at them.

I don't self harm that much but when I do it's to drag my mind away from my thoughts and onto the physical pain.

it feels that way for me too.. when something triggers andi'll be crying withemotional pain and feel like i'm choking, i self harm (nothing too serious really) and the slight pain distracts well. very cliche but my best guess as to why it helps is that the physical pain does help the inner pain to get out, and i have a say in pain that is inflicted on me for once.

It's sad how much of our emotional lives are ruled by simple biochemical processes. The pain triggers a neurotransmitter to release lifting the state of depression. But only to make it come back harder. The good news is that the pain from exercise has the same effect BUT it makes the depression a little easier to deal with. And so even if you can't go outside or run or whatever you can always do simple exercises that you do staying inside or just try to squat for 60 seconds or do a wall sit until it hurts. The ache you get the next day is beautiful.

Does using fists count as self harm? Or is it only cutting? I gave myself black eye last year and knocked myself out with metal flashlight the previous year.

Any way of intentionally harming your body is self harm, it isn't just cutting.

"Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), also referred to as self-injury or self-harm, is the deliberate and direct destruction of ones body tissue without suicidal intent and not for body modification purposes."
