Who here self harms
I have for 3 years. I had stopped for 2 months but then an ex came back and he hurt me again so I hurt myself badly. It's a way of coping as I don't have to explain to people whats wrong.
.....disappointed in myself ....first I was 2 years clean then I started again....now I've been a month clean and just started....why ...just why....when I do it I feel like another person inside me is trying to get out....why can't I stop feeling that way...ugh I'll figure it out I usually do..
Same here I was 2 years clean and I did it again, I feel awful.
i just did it 100min. ago.
I have self harmed in the past.. use to be bad. But decided it wasn't worth it. I often contemplate it when I'm feeling down, or if I'm angry with myself but refrain from it.
I do as well. When I self harm, I feel like it is a way of releasing what I'm bottling inside myself - may it be sadness or anger about anything. As I scratch away at my skin with my fingernails or snap rubber bands against my wrist, whatever is bothering me becomes much less of a problem. A lot of people don't understand why I do it or why their friends/family do it. Why would one want to do this to oneself? Well, after a while, emotions can really start to get to someone. We all have our limits. I have reached mine. My emotions have gotten to me. It's my way of coping, and I don't think that it's something that anyone should judge someone else for. We do not choose our emotions, and we can't delete them, either, unfortunately. We can't delete what created these emotions. We can't delete our feelings. We can't delete our thoughts. They come up automatically. Additionally, people have different ways of coping with their problems, and even though my way hurts, and it might even cause me to bleed, I still do it. I still feel the urge and need to cause myself pain. I have tried to quit, but every time, something happens that makes me do it again. Tears streaming down my face, I try to stop myself. I feel as if my world is a dark paradise that I am trapped inside, or even a cage alongside the voices that I constantly hear inside my mind. "You're ugly!" one might state, "You're not good enough." another may add. And the worst thing? The worst thing is that when I am not alone, I have to put on a brave face and pretend that I'm okay, when in reality, I'm very far from okay. I have to wait until there is no one else but me to let it all go. I rush to the bathroom, trying my best to act as if nothing is wrong. Every. Single. Day. I shield my wounds under seemingly endless layers of bandages. As my gallery of injuries grows, so does the fear that one day, someone will find out that I am not the happy, positive person that he or she thought I was. I have lost so many battles with myself. The collection gets larger and larger very quickly. I would definitely prefer a happier life, but that's not always an easy thing to fix, is it? When comparing my lives to the lives of others, the grass is greener on the other side, no matter how bad my circumstances are. However, it's okay to feel this way - and I want everyone reading this to know that. I also want whoever is reading this to know that I am there for you and I'm willing to support you. If you need someone to talk to, talk to me. I too have issues with my life. It is not perfect, even if it seems like it might be. Whoever you are, I will support you, no matter what. As a person who self harms myself, I know exactly how it feels.
I self harm, but I'm trying to recover. Is everything okay sweetie?
i cut because i need to
my selfharm lasts for 7 years and I don't know how and when it will stop. I don't feel pain when I cut myself because sometimes I feel that deserve it. using selfharm I'm trying to stifle my emotional pain, which is much stronger. I am not ashamed of my scars, but I have to hide them because people will not understand.
I have since I was 15. I'm 38 now and I still struggle with it. There are times I can feel my moods building, and other times it hits me like a bag of bricks. As of today Ive gone a week since my latest relapse. Tuesday was a struggle, but so far so good.
I cut to heal the pain
of spending everyday in vain
