TW relapsed
I relapsed a couple of minutes ago and I hate myself for it because I always let it take over my thoughts.Every time something goes wrong or I feel numb it’s the first thought which I have and it just doesn’t go away. When I’m clean I always feel lost and I just don’t know what to do anymore
Talk to someone that understands..
Don’t blame yourself for relapsing, it’s part of the process, it’s not your fault. You feel strong emotions and your head don’t know how to manage it. So it makes you do what you did in order to calm those emotions and redirect them somewhere that seems more real, even if we know that doesn’t quite work that way. What have you done in the past to stop? In the short term, finding a way to redirect your emotions in something less harmfull would be best. Have you try ice or elastics? It’s not a long-term alternative, but might help the urge to do something else. In a mid-term, finding a way to distract yourself : is there a song, a game, an animal, a walk, a bath, a movie that could help? You could even write what you are feeling in a note book or in your cellphone. You need to take one step at the time in your recovery. I already wrote it, but relapsing is part of your process, you’re the only one, and you’re not alone.
Take care of yourself and my door is always open to talk more :)
