What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?
Hi, everyone! This is Bunnie ~
So as a background story, I was listening to a song earlier about how the singer wishes that she could meet her younger version so that she could tell herself about the things she learned as she aged up, especially during times of difficulty. I was just wondering, if that's possible, what would you tell your younger self (plus what age would that younger version of yourself be) and why would you tell yourself that?
Hoping for your answers, lovelies <3
Tagging some friends if you want to answer: @rebecca947 @bear228 @Blaze @Tazzie @ambercares @SpaceStation2 @onedirection1213 @RainbowFerret @LavenderFlower @Erato
@BunnieLuv
I would tell my younger self that it's okay to be different and that nothing ANYONE tells you out of hatred or misunderstanding is ever valid - keep your chin up and your spirits high. I would have avoided a lot of pain if I'd known that. :P
@ambercares Ooop that's a good reminder for everyone. I think a lot of people in their youth have a hard time being in a judgmental society because they are unique. But I am glad that you embraced your uniqueness, and that you became strong because of it. Your younger self surely adores you for that, and is proud that you came out of it stronger than ever. <3 Lovelove to Mavis!
@BunnieLuv
The older you get, you regret missed opportunities more than you regret failures...
@BunnieLuv never fall for anyone
@timmywang93 Ooooh alrighty. Would it be okay to ask why would you tell your younger self that? <3
@BunnieLuv because they leave in the end
Dear younger me (@17),
You don't need someone else in order to be happy. I know it's hard and you don't really have a clue how to make you happy, but you are smart and strong enough to figure things out!
Oh! And don't let anyone treat you like sh*t, you don't deserve it. Even if you did something wrong, you are still a human being and no respectful or caring person would treat you like vermin.
Love from the future,
The slightly wiser Me.
@CrystalKiwi8717 Hi, kiwi, thanks for answering my question! <3
True--even if we do mistakes we still all deserve love and respect. Everybody is learning and growing, and being mean to people who learn defeats the purpose of growth. I'm so glad that you got to learn all these as you aged up!
Being happy yourself alone can be a challenging thing to do, but once you discover how to, it is such a rewarding kind of love. <3
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, I'm sure that your younger self appreciates you for learning all these <3
I would tell younger me:
Just because someone wants to do something that doesn't include you, that doesn't mean they don't like you. You also have the right to do things for yourself without feeling guilty.
@Blaze Hi, Blaze, thanks for answering <3
That would be a great advice for yourself and also for others, I myself sometimes gets that kind of feeling. :x But it is also a good reminder of doing things for yourself, we deserve good things, and if you want to experience things for your own, it's never a bad thing. We are our own, and our experiences are our own, we should let ourselves enjoy things, for we deserve it <3
Go along, to get along. Don't challenge things, it's easier (7)
@mytwistedsoul Hi, twisted, it's so nice to see you here, how are you! <3 That is a nice message for your younger self, would it be alright to tell me why you wanted to say that?
@BunnieLuv Hey How are you?
It just probably would have made growing up easier. If you go along instead of challenging things, you don't need to be reminded of your place in the scheme of things.
Nice seeing you too, Take care
@mytwistedsoul Ahh--I see. Well that's also a good reminder for one's self! <3 I'm doing okay, I guess--just a bit overwhelmed with all the work I gotta do. Take care, twisted xx
@BunnieLuv I wanted to apologize for my prior post. I'm kind of, idk, lost in bad head space and posted without much thought. Sorry.
I would like to tell my younger self,
be brave, be strong. Don't let people's feelings and actions dictate how you feel and treat yourself. There are people that you can trust, just follow your instincts. Don't over-think things, it just complicates the original thought. Smile, love yourself, take pride in the things you can do. Enjoy life, what ever it brings and it will bring good and bad things. Cherish the good things, and let go of the bad. You are worthy, break the cycle, not yourself. Despite everything you think you know, you have a good heart, the fact that you feel compassion and care about others says alot about your character. Life is what YOU make of it. Make good things.
@mytwistedsoul Hi again, it's alright <3
You've got very amazing reminders for your younger self! Even me myself would really like to read these even at this time of my life... To be honest, I'm still very much a work in progress (as we all are) and I am still learning about the things you posted. Don't forget to remind yourself of these things, too, as sometimes during our trying moments, we often forget these thoughts when we need it the most.
"Smile, love yourself, take pride in the things you can do."
"You are worthy, break the cycle, not yourself."
"Despite everything you think you know, you have a good heart, the fact that you feel compassion and care about others says alot about your character."
You've got so many great messages, and I think my heart warmed up so much with all of it, and I think you've also managed to talk to the younger version of myself inside, too, and my heart thanks you for it.
Take care twisted, it's always a pleasure talking with you xx
To my younger self,
sometimes you
@lilymo Hi lily, thanks for answering my question! <3 That's a very comforting thing to say to yourself, I think your younger version will very much appreciate that! It's so nice of you to acknowledge that you try your hardest. It's also a good advice to choose friends wisely, it is a determinant of how things can be during good times and bad times. Take care always lily xx
@BunnieLuv ooh, I love the question! Also, what song were you listening to? :p I love hearing new songs haha
Ive written quite a few letters to my younger self/future self, but theres always something missing from all of them all the time. So I guess in this new letter to my younger self- aged 15-
You dont need to compare yourself to others, even if others do that to/for you. You dont need to try to prove your intelligence to anyone other than yourself. You dont need to prove your worth to anyone. Intelligence isnt a sign of how worthy you are, how successful you will be. You can be successful in a multitude of ways, not just in academia. Lastly, theres always pathways to get to where you want to get. xx
@rebecca947 Awwh, this is such a nice message! I think this is also one of the things I learned during my teenage years. It is a calming thing to know that there are many other things we can excel on, and that we aren't simply defined by what we have or what we don't. Haha the song is actually Fifteen by Taylor Swift :P I just want to share that as a young teenager I've listened to her songs but it was only this time that I tried listening to them again that some of the songs spoke to me on a different level, like her song 'Mean', and I think it made me feel better about myself <3 Thanks for answering rebecca xx
@BunnieLuv
ooooooh that song! Ill have to listen to it again- havent heard it in ages :p I love how songs give us meanings and we interpret them differently depending on what stage of life were at... and everyone interprets them all differently. Interesting thought!
@BunnieLuv
Wow I can't believe I have only just seen suh an awesome post!!!!! This is so lovely bunny thank you for posting it. I think I would tell my younger self not to waste time and spend money on presents for people who clearly do not care about onesself. And to let my youngerself know that I am amazing and to keep being strong.
I am glad you posted this, it is a great icebreaker!
@bear228 Thank you very much for answering, bear, I am so glad to see you here <3
That is a very good reminder, indeed! Efforts are great to be offered to ones that appreciate. <3 And!! Your other reminder also works for all of us everyday--to be reminded that we are amazing and strong, like we always have been. :)
You are strong and amazing bear! Take care always xx
@BunnieLuv to live each moment as if it were your last and that is OK not to be OK. The right people will walk the path with you. Look after health, protect your heart, be kind treat people with respect and always speak your mind.
@Pcnutta, hello there, thanks for answering my question <3
What lovely reminders! It is indeed great to confine yourself in the present, slowly savoring each moment. And it is indeed ok to not be ok, we as humans are very dynamic, and to not experience sadness is also not being able to appreciate the happiness. With the right people, you'll find great company, and it is indeed important to treat yourself right as much as you treat others right. I'm so glad that you shared this with us xx
I wish my younger self knew that it was okay to talk about things. That when you're upset or scared or worried or ashamed, you can say it. That the things that feel unspeakable need to be said. That when you say it, it gets better -- not worse. That holding it inside will hurt worse than anything you do to your body, and worse than any reaction you could have recieved. And, I wish I truly knew how horribly what I've done to my body would hurt those I love. I thought it didn't matter or that I could hide it or that they would be upset but it'd end up okay. It destroyed them. It brings them terrible pain to see what I did to myself instead of just talking to them. Instead of just speaking my truth. It's terrifying and overwhelming to think of even attempting to verbalize this sometimes, but I wish I'd known from the start how important speaking is. Maybe this could've been avoided. Maybe I could have recovered by now.
@RabbitTangerine Hi, Rabbit, thanks for sharing <3
Ahhh--this is a great reminder for everyone. I agree that we must learn that we are free to feel whatever we are feeling, there are no right and wrong emotions, they just are. Most of us are very afraid of saying things, even the slightest bit, because we either think that it doesn't matter and that it will go away or rather we are ashamed of the judgment it can bring. We can only hold so much, and should be able to release some negativity sometimes and that we must not bottle it up. Bottled up feelings oftentimes go out in ugly ways.
I am sorry that for the past times your body has been affected by issues but you recognizing this is a very big step for you towards recovery. <3
I am rooting for you, take care always xx
