Forum Editing

I think it would be great if we could have more freedom and creativity when it comes to forum posts.

Firstly I think we need to have the ability to delete or edit our posts, incase we may change our mind after, make a mistake or want to alter it in any way.

Secondly we should have the ability to show or hide our posts - e.g. "Show to only my followers, Show to my followers and their followers, Public"

Thirdly it would be fantastic to be able to customize our text more - e.g. more fonts and colours, more sizes and emoticons and the ability to add things like #hashtags, sounds or videos

Some sort of window for editing posts would be nice, if just to fix typos.

However, font and color customization inevitably leads to one of two places, either people not using them at all or people using them to pick really difficult to read colors and fonts.

I am 100% agree that we should be able to edit or delete our own messages.
If for any reason, I regret what I said, I made mistakes, I am ashamed, or I got bad comments, and I want delete it.
I will not want to PM a moderator or admin and show them the post.
I will just hope that nobody see my message.

But I don't agree with the idea of limit the audience, because it could encourage people to break the TOS or community guidelines, as the moderators or admins could not see the messages.

Finally, I think there are already more options that you think, as we can use other code languages (like the HTML) and add pictures.

Also it would be nice if I could change category after posting.

Hey there everyone! (Sorry I'm a bit late seeing this).

With the current system I don't think it would be possible to allow individual members etc to edit their own posts due to how forum editing is coded within the site. If however you do need something edited/removed etc you can message a Forum Moderator.

These are found here:

I did notice it was mentioned you may not want to directly message a Moderator about a thread and that's perfectly understandable. In future you can use the following forum to request a thread to be edited, deleted, moving etc.

Hopefully that helps clear it up a bit and provides you with options on how to go about altering forum posts? If you ever need some help around the forums just tag me with @Baubs and I'll try and help out personally too.

The staff picked a format that doesn't allow editing of posts? That's a really bad decision on their part. Something that isn't so limiting should be a high priority, even if all the options aren't enabled for users!

@Consolas

It's a bit more complicated than that unfortunately. Potentially in future you could suggest it at the suggestion box or forum? Until then however I'm afraid you'll have to refer to my previous post in order to edit the forums.
