Genderfluid Option
Hello! I'll keep this short and sweet, as I know long posts can typically be daunting, and there isn't much to explain besides the overarching suggestion.
Currently, 7 Cups allows four options for members and listeners to display as their gender. These are: Male, Female, Non-Binary, and having none be displayed with "Prefer not to share."
I was curious if a Genderfluid option could be added to provide a more diverse option for those in the LGBTQ+ community. When I first signed up and explored these settings, I was contemplating picking between Non-Binary and not having anything displayed. I, and am sure others, do not really fit into the non-binary 'label' but don't truly identity with the other options given as well.
@DivinePeace You raise an interesting point.

Hi Peace, you bring up a good point about what the gender options on the profiles. It could be a possibility that having those 3 choices was easier for those to understand. With taking in your suggestion I will forward this to the Admins and Ambassadors.

@DivinePeace Your welcome. Glad I was helpful.

To follow up with your suggestion, what do you think are other options to have list on a community profile account?

@Asher
Just found this and wanted to bump up. I'd rather have it custom. One can't really mention all the gender identities. So just to be inclusive of everyone, having a custom option sounds good to me.
@theriverissinging
Thanks for bumping this post. It was talked about in the past about making a Genderfluid option that would allow users to put down Genderfluid or put down the pronouns they like to be used for them. It would be almost like a custom option for the community to add the pronouns they want and also make it easier to identify pronouns as well. Adding more pronouns could get too complex and could result in the community getting confused.
@Asher
My point is inclusivity and it is possible if there is a custom option, in my opinion. Can you please elaborate on how listing pronouns can result in the "community getting confused?"
@theriverissinging
Hi Sing, when I meant the community could get confused is based on that there are community members that get confused on pronouns and LGBTQ+ terms as well. There is a lot of learning that is still ongoing with the community learning these terms as well. A suggestion could be adding a Genderfluid option and allowing profiles to have pronouns they like to be used by. For example, you could have "she/they" on your pronouns under your account as well. We want to make sure that we are inclusive of the community but also want to be cautious that we are not exclusive as well to the community.
@Asher that makes sense partially, it's still just not something I can agree with. I mean it's not really about how good it feels to look at the terms. I might have misunderstood though. Pronouns can be listed manually in the bio too, as I said earlier. It's just that if we're asking for gender identity (in case they prefer to say), let it be what the person prefers to call it. That's all I had to say. Thank you for your replies.
I do understand that this is thoughtful, though. However, I just meant to say to have a space where any gender identity can be listed. The listeners can and do add their pronouns to their bios anyway, right?
hey there could be like a box where you can type it in that'd be cool, there's just sooooo many it makes sense right?
oof someone already said this, nevermind
