Offline requests not getting taken
I'm a listener and I've noticed that on many nights, there will be requests that are an hour or even two hours old. Whenever I see this, I take all the oldest requests in hopes that someone may still be there/to clear them off. This site is meant to take pride in how helpful we are but a ton of people aren't getting the help. We really need to try to take all the chats we can from the live AND the offline requests because when I feel so sad clearing off 10-15 requests of people that just left because they have been waiting for extremely long when they could have been helped. This is something I'd like to bring to light and we really should try to get more listeners or something to tackle this problem. If anyone can offer solutions or ideas, I'll try my best to help.
I've found that to be an issue too toward the end of the day/ late night where I'm at. I usually just send a message saying I'm sorry for the wait and I'd schedule a time to chat when it was convenient for them. I think that the tags can sometimes hurt people who need a listener because some of us listeners don't feel comfortable in helping those specific topics... idk, just some of my two cents.
Thanks for a response. I always say sorry for the wait but I will start scheduling times to talk. :) Yeah, I try to take all the tags I think I can help with and there's only like two or three that I'm nervous to take. I think the listeners need to take training more often and learn how to help people that they would otherwise be nervous to.
Definitely more training. I also think that since I haven't been through some of the situations many people have trouble with, I won't help them as well... but then they might also get left behind :/ it's a struggle. I have noticed that a bot talks to those waiting in line.
