How to bounce back from bad grades
I am in 11th grade right now.
Since this year has started, my concentration has hit an all time low. I am struggling with everything. I can't understand anything taught in the class, nor I can concentrate. I have done very poorly in my mid term examinations. My retention capacity has become very poor.
First time in my life I have faced such a situation. I was always a bright student until 10th grade. I am unsure how much of this is impact of covid since I was doing good in the 10th grade as well. Now I do not know how to go forward from here.
It would really help if someone could give any valuable suggestions.
Hey @RomioneAlways! I am so sorry you are struggling this year. COVID was, and still is a very hard thing in some areas of the world so it is understandable as to why you would feel the way you do.
If you don't mind me asking, do you think it is a motivation issue in the classroom or all around in your life? Sometimes reigniting our passions or hobbies can help motivate us back to what we were doing beforehand.
I know exactly how you feel. I too have been struggling, since covid hit, to keep my grades up. The only advice I can give is to tell people when you’re struggling. Have a few friends that can help you understand what your learning. And if you have friends in your classes, have them hold you accountable. Get them to make sure you stay focused during class. This has helped me quite a bit this year.
Also try to set small goals for yourself and give yourself a reward for completing them. As childish as it may sound, it works for a lot of people. One of my teachers did an experiment on all of his classes where when we finished the assignment he gave us a reward, candy because who doesn’t like candy? But what he realized is that more people did their work when there was a prize to be won. So set a goal to focus during class, or when you’re doing work and reward yourself afterwards.
I hope this helps 😊
